Niagara County Emergency Services Says NYS Collecting Storm Damage Reports

Niagara County Director of Emergency Services Jonathan Schultz today announced that the New York State Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services has released a form to track damages from the heavy rainfall and flash flooding events from July 28-29 and August 2-3, 2026.  The state will now be tracking all information related to the aforementioned.

The purpose of this form is solely to collect information that may help state and local officials identify supplemental damages to develop and augment potential requests for available federal assistance programs.   This form is NOT an application for relief programs.

“We recognize some homeowners and businesses incurred some significant damage from the rain and flooding and we want to do all we can to seek relief funds to help them,” said Schultz.  “The first step in attempting to secure any funding is being able to produce data on the impact of the storms.  That’s why we need people to fill out the damage forms.”

To fill out the form visit  https://www.dhses.ny.gov/ and click on “Report Damage.”  Please be as specific as you can.  Reporting damage is a voluntary activity and is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency, nor does it guarantee disaster relief assistance.
