Niagara County Announces Winners of Inaugural Corporate Fishing Challenge

The Niagara County Center for Economic Development today announced the winners of the inaugural Niagara County Corporate Fishing Challenge, a new initiative created to engage business professionals, highlight the region’s fishing opportunities, and support a local charitable organization.  The challenge concluded after Labor Day. Participants submitted their best fishing photos and encouraged friends, family members, coworkers, and clients to visit the contest website and vote for their entries. 

The adult winners were father-and-son team of Vanik J. and Vanik R. Aloian.  The youth winner was David “Pudgy” Wilson.  A donation will be made in the winners’ names to the Catching Dreams Charters, a not-for-profit organization that provides free fishing adventures for children and young adults battling cancer. Catching Dreams specializes in providing fishing therapy to patients during and after treatment.  The winners will also receive a trophy recognizing their accomplishment.

“We are grateful to everyone who participated in the inaugural Niagara County Corporate Fishing Challenge,” said Captain Frank Campbell, Niagara County Sportfishing and Outdoor Promotions Coordinator. “The competition gave us an opportunity to celebrate Niagara County’s exceptional fishing, connect with members of the business community, and support the important work of Catching Dreams Charters.”

Campbell thanked local charter captains who helped promote the challenge to participants during fishing excursions and looks forward to starting a new challenge later this fall.
