Niagara County Recognizes Judi’s Lounge as “Neighborhood Business of the Month”

The Niagara County Legislature has honored Judi’s Lounge in the Town of Niagara as its “Neighborhood Business of the Month” for October. A longtime community gathering place, Judi’s Lounge has been serving residents for more than 46 years, earning a loyal following for its famous chicken wings, homemade soups, signature sandwiches and welcoming atmosphere.
Judi’s Lounge was opened by Judi and her husband, Tom, in January 1980. When the couple began searching for a location, they were immediately drawn to Military Road and the Town of Niagara. At the time, Military Road had not yet been widened and the Outlet Mall was still known as King’s Plaza, but they recognized the area’s potential for growth.
Today, the business is operated by the couple’s daughter, Maria Cheff, who has continued the family tradition while building the comfortable, relaxed atmosphere that makes Judi’s Lounge a favorite neighborhood hangout. The business expanded a few years ago and continues to look toward future growth.
“Judi’s Lounge has been a fixture in the Town of Niagara for more than four decades, bringing people together over great food and conversation,” said Niagara County Legislator Chris McKimmie. “Maria is carrying on the family’s tradition by not only running a successful local business, but also giving back and working to ensure the Town of Niagara continues to grow and thrive. Judi’s Lounge is exactly the kind of neighborhood business we are proud to recognize.”
Beyond its food and service, Judi’s Lounge has established itself as a committed community partner. Maria serves on the Town of Niagara’s Business Liaison Committee, which brings together local government, residents and businesses to help advance the town’s long-term success. She also supports numerous local initiatives, including the town’s annual Trunk or Treat event, held yesterday at Veterans Memorial Park.
The “Neighborhood Business of the Month” recognition program highlights businesses that contribute to Niagara County’s economy and enhance the quality of life in our communities. The award is open to any for-profit business located in Niagara County, with a particular focus on small, locally owned businesses. Nominations are accepted year-round, and businesses remain eligible for consideration in future months. Anyone can submit a nomination by completing the online form at www.niagaracountybusiness.com and clicking on Business of the Month.
