Legislature Recognizes May as "Foster Parent Appreciation Month"
Niagara County Legislator Chris Voccio presented a proclamation to the county’s Social Service leadership team recognizing May as “Foster Parent Appreciation Month.” There are more than 365,000 children across the country living in foster care. In Niagara County, we have 70 foster homes providing care to 165 foster children.
During the presentation, Department of Social Services Commissioner Megan Lutz expressed the community’s appreciation for foster parents when she said, “Foster parents deserve our gratitude and respect for the work they do every day to ensure our children receive the support they need at a traumatic time in their lives.” The commissioner said the county always needs people who wish to be foster parents and encourage anyone interested to click here for more information.
