Niagara County to host Paint Collection Event in Town of Niagara
Niagara County Legislators Chris Robins and Chris McKimmie today announced that Niagara County will be hosting a paint collection event on Saturday, September 28 at Veterans’ Memorial Park in the Town of Niagara. Any latex or oil-based paint in its original container can be accepted at no cost. Residents and businesses are allowed to bring up to 75 gallons of paint to the event.
“Our Environmental Division has held several events across the county during spring and summer with hundreds of people taking advantage of the opportunity to get rid of those old cans of paint left in their garages and basements,” said Robins. “Now, we are very happy to be hosting this upcoming event in Veterans’ Memorial Park to make it convenient for Town of Niagara residents to participate.”
The event is open to all Niagara County residents but registration is required, which can be done by going to https://www.rethinkyourwaste.com/events and clicking on this event. Note that staff will be on hand to unload paint so participants will not have to exit their vehicles.
WHAT: Free paint collection event
WHEN: Saturday, September 28 from 9 a.m. to 1pm.
WHERE: Veterans’ Memorial Park, 7000 Lockport Road
Legislator Chris McKimmie said that all used or unused latex or oil paint in its original container will be accepted, along with stains and shellacs, lacquers, sealers and varnishes. No spray paint, paint thinner or solvents will be accepted
“These events are the best way to make sure collected material is either recycled for reuse or disposed of properly,” said McKimmie. “It’s important to do what we can to divert material from our landfills.”
