Local Law Enforcement to take part in STOP DWI High Visibility Campaign During Thanksgiving Weekend
Niagara County Sheriff Michael J. Filicetti today announced that Niagara County law enforcement agencies will participate in a special effort to bring awareness to the dangers of impaired driving.
In a combined effort to stop impaired driving, prevent injuries and save lives, law enforcement officers across New York State will take to the roads. The statewide STOP[1]DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign efforts start on Wednesday, November 27th and will end on Sunday, December 1st. The Niagara County Sheriff's Office, as well as law enforcement agencies across Niagara County, will be out in force during this coordinated effort to reduce the number of impaired driving-related injuries and deaths.
The STOP-DWI Thanksgiving High Visibility Engagement Campaign is one of many statewide enforcement initiatives promoted by STOP-DWI New York and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee. The Statewide STOP-DWI High Visibility Engagement Campaign also targets Halloween, the Holiday Season, Super Bowl Weekend, St. Patrick's Day, Memorial Day Weekend, July 4th weekend, Labor Day, and more.
While STOP-DWI efforts across New York have led to significant reductions in the numbers of alcohol and drug related fatalities, still too many lives are being lost because of crashes caused by drunk or impaired drivers.
