Niagara County Recognizes March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month

Last night, the Niagara County Legislature passed a proclamation from Legislator Chris McKimmie declaring the month of March as Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.  McKimmie said in 2024 there were approximately 152,810 new cases and 53,010 deaths from colorectal cancer across the country. While colorectal cancer is one of the few cancers that can be prevented with timely screening, unfortunately, one in three 3 eligible adults are not up to date on their screening.

In this clip, Town of Niagara Police Chief Craig Guiliani, who joined McKimmie at the meeting, shared his personal story on being diagnosed with colorectal cancer.
