Legislature Receives Plaque Honoring Lowertown 9
From Niagara County Legislator Rick Abbott: “It was only fitting that last night’s ceremony, bringing the plaque honoring the Lowertown 9 who lost their lives in WWII, for permanent placement in the Niagara County Courthouse, be held just days before we celebrate Memorial Day. The descendants of the Lowertown 9 made sure that our community knows these are not just names on a plaque from a war fought 80 years ago. These were Lockport residents who left their homes to defend freedom and their sacrifice, and the sacrifices of all those who have fought for our nation through various wars, should never be forgotten.”
In the clip below, Barb Converso talks about Paul Converso, one of the Lowertown 9. The full presentation can be viewed here, beginning at the 7 minute mark: https://trms.lctv.net/CablecastPublicSite/show/12918?site=3
