Niagara County Department of Health Offers Back-to-School Immunization Clinics for Niagara County Residents

The Niagara County Department of Health (NCDOH) is reminding families that the new school year is approaching and is offering immunization clinics to help students residing in Niagara County meet New York State Department of Health requirements. Ensuring all students are up to date on their vaccinations is crucial for the health and safety of our community, protecting students, staff, and families from vaccine-preventable diseases.

New York State Public Health Law Section 2164 requires that children attending day care and pre-K through grade 12 be up to date on all required vaccines to attend or remain in school.  The NCDOH clinics will offer all required school immunizations including: Diphtheria/Tetanus/Pertussis (DTaP/Tdap), Polio, Measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR), Hepatitis B, Varicella (Chickenpox), and Meningococcal.
"It is our responsibility to ensure every student starts the school year healthy and ready to learn," said Daniel J. Stapleton, Public Health Director. "We are committed to helping families meet these requirements and keeping our community protected from vaccine-preventable diseases."

Families are encouraged to work with their child’s healthcare provider to obtain their required vaccinations.  However, in the event that providers are booked, our immunization clinics are an important alternative to prevent school exclusion.  Families can schedule an appointment by calling our Nursing Division at (716) 278-1903. The NCDOH conducts these clinics to ensure every child has access to the required immunizations.
