Section of Rapids Rd to Reopen Today

The Niagara County Department of Public Works (DPW) today announced Rapids Rd, between the Bartz-Crosby intersection and Raymond Road, will reopen today, November 13.  The road has been closed since October 6 for a large culvert replacement.

“Though the road is reopening, work will continue, including drainage and waterline improvements, until the weather turns and we shut down for the winter” said Garret Meal, DPW Commissioner.  “The utility company will also be doing some gas line relocation over the winter at the Bartz-Crosby intersection.”

Meal said when the project resumes next year, the work will include re-profiling Rapids at Bartz-Crosby and performing cold in-place recycling (CIR) on the travel lanes.  All of this is part of a $6 million improvement project for Raymond and Rapids roads.
