Legislator Gooch Appointed to NIMAC Board
The Niagara County Legislature has appointed Legislator Jesse Gooch as its representative to the Niagara Military Affairs Council (NIMAC.) NIMAC is the civilian-
led organization that supports the growth and prosperity of the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station (NFARS). NFARS is the last federal U.S. Air Force base in the State of New York and the largest federal facility in the region.
“As a legislator, I recognize the tremendous economic impact the air reserve station has on our region and want to do everything I can to ensure it has a long future in our community,” said Gooch. “Both of my grandfathers were WWII veterans and my father did three tours of duty in Vietnam so I am also proud that our community is home to this military installation and the tremendous men and women who serve there.”
NIMAC is a designated partner agency of Niagara County and as such, receives an annual appropriation of $20,000 to support its mission.
“The Legislature supports the work of NIMAC because that organization has led the charge to not only save the base from closing multiple times, but to fight for new federal investment in the facility,” said Gooch. “The many folks who have volunteered their time to NIMAC over the years have done an unbelievable job. I look forward to carrying on that legacy.”
