Niagara County Outdoor Ice Rinks at Krull, Burmaster Parks Open
The Niagara County Parks Department today said the outdoor ice rinks at Krull and Burmaster parks are now open to the public. The parks are open for ice skating between t 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily and the rinks do have lighting.
“We want to remind the people that our parks offer outdoor activities year-round, so if you like to ice skate, check out either Krull or Burmaster park,” said Niagara County Legislator Shawn Foti, Chairman of the Infrastructure Committee which oversees the parks. “However, there are no concessions stands so you need to bring your own hot chocolate.”
Foti said the rinks remain open as long as weather and temperature conditions allow. Parks staff keep the ice clear and resurface the top coat daily. There are restroom facilities at both locations.
The address for Krull Park is 6108 E Lake Rd, Olcott. Residents can call 716-778-7711 to check ice conditions. The address for Burmaster Park at Bond Lake is 2571 Lower Mountain Rd, Ransomville. Residents can call 716-439-7890 to check ice conditions.
Jeff Gaston, head of Niagara County Parks, said that there are also other opportunities to enjoy Niagara County parks in the winter.
“Burmaster Park also offers miles of cross-country ski trails that are kept groomed, weather permitting, and the loops around Krull and Oppenheim are plowed regularly for those looking to get some fresh air by walking outside,” said Gaston. “Winter can be a little more tolerable when you can take advantage of outdoor activities.”
